선생님 여러분, 안녕 하십니까? 다른것 아니고 cataloging 에 대한 질문이 있어요. 실례지만 영어로 묻겠어요. I have a question about 음력 birthdates for modern authors. When a name is not in the OCLC authority file and a lunar calendar date is readily available in the book or on a reputable biographical website, is there a website where you can convert the year to the Western calendar date (양력)? I have the impression that the year is generally the same if the date is not too close to January. In this case, the author's birthdate is given in the book as 음력 1945년 11월 9일. I don't know whether to use 1945 or 1946 as the birthdate. In the absence of certainty, I would generally leave it off, but I like to provide birthdates when I can for authors not in the Authority File. I do not have NACO authorization, so the heading is being "established" only for the bib record. Thanks in advance! - Bill McCloy

Hi, Bill, nice to hear from you. Yes, there are many converters available on internet. I used converter at http://www.sanale.com/luner/luner.php. The lunar calender date 1945년 11월 9일 is 1945년 12월 13일 in the Gregorian calender. For cataloging purpose, you can only provide year '1945-' if the person on your resource with 1945- is not conflict with any other person. If there is any conflict and you have to provide month and date, you should spell out the month as if you are creating authority record in RDA. So the 100 $d should be '1945 December 13-'
